|Chronological and political information|
Hope is an Earth Kingdom healer whom The Gaang Jr. have met in the course of their adventures. She is kind and more than willing to help them when they cross paths, but they usually end up finding a way to help her even more.
Her birth near the end of the War to refugees on their way to Ba Sing Se was a source of inspiration to the Avatar during a particularly trying time on his journey. She lived with her parents Than and Ying in Ba Sing Se until her early teens, when she left home to become a healer. For a time she trained under the watchful care of Song.
Supported by her medical skills and driven by her zeal to help the weak, she became a traveling healer, wandering from town to town in the Earth Kingdom and beyond. A little more than a year ago, Hope chose to settle down for the time being, setting up a small hospital in the city of Xiwang (希望) to the southwest of Ba Sing Se.
Kind and caring, Hope goes out of her way to help everyone in need and to do what is best for those around her; too often putting them before her own concerns and well-being. This selfless nature makes her prone to over-exertion when tending to her patients, as well as excessive worrying when any problem, real or percieved arises; though naturally she tries her best not to labour anyone else with these concerns, always quick to offer a smile or an interested ear to those who need it.
After a brief yet memorable meeting, Hope has expressed an interest in the stoic yet empathic Captain Tom-Tom, although it is unclear if this intrest is even acknowledged, let alone returned.
